What to look for in a Reputable Remodeler

When it comes to finding remodelers and home improvement professionals, take caution and be wary of home repair scams and solicitations from unlicensed contractors. Oftentimes when homeowners are in a rush to complete a particular project, they may neglect to do their homework before making a decision on with which company to work.

 

Here are some important questions to ask a contractor with which you are considering working:

 

  • Are they licensed and insured (where required by law)? 
  • Can they provide three references from clients in the past 12 months? 
  • Can they provide a banking and/or financial reference? 
  • What professional/trade organizations do they belong to? 
  • How long have they been in business? 
  • Do they have a "before and after" picture portfolio?
